What is AR?

Augmented reality (AR) is an interactive experience of a real-world environment where the objects that reside in the real world are enhanced by computer-generated perceptual information, sometimes across multiple sensory modalities, including visualauditoryhapticsomatosensory and olfactory.[1][2] AR can be defined as a system that incorporates three basic features: a combination of real and virtual worlds, real-time interaction, and accurate 3D registration of virtual and real objects.[3] The overlaid sensory information can be constructive (i.e. additive to the natural environment), or destructive (i.e. masking of the natural environment).[4] This experience is seamlessly interwoven with the physical world such that it is perceived as an immersive aspect of the real environment.[4] In this way, augmented reality alters one’s ongoing perception of a real-world environment, whereas virtual reality completely replaces the user’s real-world environment with a simulated one.[5][6] Augmented reality is related to two largely synonymous terms: mixed reality and computer-mediated reality.

In other words, AR adds 3D models to the real word.

What is My AR Restaurant?

We transform your restaurant’s menu into an AR menu where your customers can scan a code to view the menu right on the table infront of them. By leveraging App Clips from Apple, we do not even require an app to be downloaded on the customer’s device. Just scan the code, or tap the paper with the device to start viewing the menu in 3D.

What are Apple App Clips?

How does the onboarding process look like?
  1. We take pictures of your dishes (20 to 200).
  2. We will then transform these pictures into 3D models.
  3. Finally, we create and release the App clip for your restaurant.

The app will function normally if any of the above permissions is not granted. However, the functionality above will not be available.
